2015 GMC Sierra HD Earns Segment Award in J.D. Power APEAL Study
Just by looking at the redesigned 2015 GMC Sierra HD, the heavy duty pickup truck looks appealing. Now, it has the award to prove it. The model was named winner of the Large Heavy Duty Pickup class for the 2015 J.D. Power U. S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.
Award winners are determined by a survey given to new vehicle consumers after 90 days of owning the model. The survey covers eight categories that evaluate owners’ opinions of the vehicle’s performance and design—engine/transmission; ride, handling and braking; comfort/convenience; seats; cockpit/instrument panel; heating, ventilation and cooling; sound system; and styling/exterior. When all the results are in, vehicles are assigned a score from 0 to 1,000. The highest-scoring vehicle in each class is named segment winner.
“These and similar awards affirm that our customers recognize and appreciate the precision engineering, design and technology that go into every GMC,” said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president for GMC. “Sierra HD trucks are engineered without compromise to deliver the capability, refinement and technology that inspire confidence with every task.”
