2015 Buick Encore and Chevy Trax Score IIHS Top Safety Pick Awards

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has granted the 2015 Buick Encore and 2015 Chevrolet Trax the highest possible score of “Good” in all of their crashworthiness tests, including small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof, and seat and head restraints.

The Encore has always been a safe car, but used to struggle in the difficult small overlap test, which replicates what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object like a tree or utility pole.

This time around, the new model aced the test. “The driver space was maintained reasonably well,” said the IIHS. “The dummy’s movement was well controlled. Measures taken from the dummy indicated a low risk of injuries in a crash of this severity.”

The Trax is an all-new model for 2015, and takes after the Encore, so it’s no surprise it also earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick award. Find them both at Bill Walsh Streator!
